Are We “There” Yet?

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 1:6

How often do we think that if we were just “there”, then I would be set for life. “There” probably looks different for each of us. Maybe “there” is getting married, or having kids, or getting that new job, or getting higher education, or bettering yourself in some way. For me, it was if I was just at “that” next level of spiritual intimacy and maturity that I would walk in the fullness of who I am, in the power and love of God, and never feel fear or doubt again and be as productive as I can be for the rest of my life.

Guess what!!??!!

You’ll never get “there”. Because there’s always gonna be another “there”.

Going places and doing stuff in of itself, solely for accomplishing something in order to feel better about yourself is going to wear you out, drive you crazy, and never satisfy. Not to mention kinda fleshly and prideful. If we’re not moving out of love, what’s the point in looking like we’ve gotten “there”? (1 Corinthians 13)

Only a intimate relationship with God will satisfy, and He’s much more interested in going through the journey with us than He is about getting us to the destination. I’m gonna bust out a big word. Sanctification. The process of spiritual refinement. It’s a life long deal. I’m finally realizing I’m not gonna get there in the next 6 months, or year, or 5 years. I will constantly be in process until I go home (and I ain’t talkin about FL). My Father loves me more than words can describe and He’s so proud of me! Learning to rest and walk in His amazing grace is a process I’m still in. I wish I could take a pill and all personal issues were instantly healed, but it’s a process.

God’s always wanted the same thing. Our hearts. He doesn’t need our abilities or effort to get us “there”. Heck, He gave us those abilities and passions. But He’s much more interested in spending time with us, letting us get to know His heart, and letting Him get to know us. I know He technically already knows everything about us, but He wants to hear it from us. He’ll continue to work in our hearts and lives and He’ll make sure we get “there” when we need to. Let yourself off the hook. God’s not frustrated or disappointed because you’re not “where I should be already” or because you still mess stuff up sometimes. His grace on you didn’t run out when you gave your life to Him. It’s still going. Like a refreshing shower that follows you around. Grace like rain. So quit stressing about what you need to do next or how you need to improve yourself.

Ask God to speak.

Talk with Him.

Ask Him questions.

Listen for His answers.

Listen for His questions.

Get to know Him and His heart for you.

Let Him into your heart and be known by Him.

If you would like to be a part of what God’s doing in me and this community here at CGA, please ask God whether He would have you support me financially. I still need an additional $400 by the end of February to continue CGA. I am currently at $2,600 out of $7,450 total, but I need at least $3,000 in my account by the end of February. After this month, I’ll still need an additional $1,000 by the end of each month for my duration of CGA which will be through August in order to hit the $7450 total. Please consider being a part of my journey and the future ministry God is preparing me for while I’m here. Thank you sooo much!
